A note from the founder
Hi, I'm Chris.
I grew up doing construction with my dad. Elementary, middle, high school, all the way through college. If he was on a job site, I was on a job site.
What I watched my dad run was chaos. Notepads full of scribbled measurements. Email threads with clients three layers deep. Hundreds of jobsite photos buried in his camera roll. Texts from subs that never made it back to the office. No system, just a phone, a truck, and a lot of remembering.
I graduated with a bachelor's in software engineering and realized the tools I was building all day at a desk were exactly what my dad's business was missing. The "construction management platforms" out there felt built for accountants in a glass tower, not for the people swinging hammers and chasing subs.
So I built BuilderBase. Simple to learn, fast on a phone, friendly enough that your office manager can use it without a training session. And when you have a question or want a feature, you'll hear back from me directly. That's not a marketing line, that's just how this works.
Why we exist
The story behind BuilderBase.
Builders have been juggling text threads, email chains, sticky notes in trucks, and spreadsheets that break every other week. Homeowners are left wondering what's happening with the biggest investment they'll ever make. And the contractors who do the work spend half their week on communication instead of building.
The "fix" the industry kept offering was bigger, more complicated software. Enterprise systems with eight tiers of permissions, training videos, account managers, onboarding fees. None of it fit a small team that just wanted to send a clean estimate, take a payment, and keep their clients in the loop.
BuilderBase started as a passwordless client portal because that one feature alone changes everything. Then it grew, in the order builders kept asking for: estimates, invoices, contracts, daily logs, RFIs, bids. Every feature added because a real customer asked for it. Most of them shipped within a week of the request.
Today BuilderBase helps builders, remodelers, painters, roofers, and trades across the country run their projects without making them feel like accountants. That's the only thing we're trying to be.
